Montana State and the University of Montana met for the 123rd time Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Bozeman. The rivalry began in 1897, making it one of the oldest college football rivalries. Montana State would take the 34-11 win over Montana and complete a 12-0 overall record for the season.
A record 22,057 fans filled Bobcat Stadium for the game Saturday. It may be one of the biggest rivalries in college football, but Bobcat and Grizzly fans find a way to mingle, at least until kickoff.
Led by the MSU Rodeo Team, and accompanied by the Spirit of the West Marching Band and MSU Spirit Squad, Montana State's pre-game runout is a fan favorite tradition.
The Spirit of the West Marching Band dedicated a special halftime performance to MSU President Waded Cruzado with songs from her native Puerto Rico. President Cruzado will retire in 2025 making this her final Cat-Griz game.
With this victory, Montana State won the Big Sky Conference championship and earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA FCS playoffs. This was MSU's first undefeated regular season since 1956.
